Two products are sold out. They move to the bottom. The other four keep their order.

How it works

Setup has three steps. Nothing changes in your store until the last one.

  1. Step 1

    Choose what counts as sold out

    Decide how to treat products that keep selling at 0 stock, and name a tag for products that must stay in place.

  2. Step 2

    Choose collections

    Pick the collections to sort. The other collections stay as they are.

  3. Step 3

    Preview and turn on

    See the new order and which products move. Then press Turn on sorting.

  • Sold-out products move down

    A product with 0 stock in all its variants moves to the bottom of the collection.

    In-stock products keep the order you choose: manual, best selling, newest, price, title or most stock.

    StockFirst tries a failed sort again and sends you an email about the failure.

You decide what sold out means

A product is sold out when all its variants have 0 stock. Three settings cover the cases where that is not enough.

Products that keep selling when out of stock
They count as in stock, because shoppers can still buy them. You can change this and count them as sold out.
Pre-order tags
Name a tag, for example pre-order. Products with that tag keep their place, even with 0 stock.
Stock locations
All locations count at the start. On the Growth plan you choose the locations. A product is then sold out when it has 0 stock in those locations.

A product with stock in at least one variant stays in place. A product whose stock is not tracked counts as in stock.

You choose and change your plan on Shopify's page. Charges appear on your Shopify bill. Prices are in US dollars.

Common questions

Why does my collection switch to manual order in Shopify?
Shopify lets an app place products one by one only when the collection uses manual order. StockFirst keeps the order you chose and moves sold-out products to the bottom. The app tells you before it switches a collection.
Are sold-out products hidden from shoppers?
No. They stay visible at the bottom of the collection, and their product pages stay online.
How do I undo a sort?
Open Activity, find the sort and press Restore. The collection goes back to the order it had before that sort. Sorting is then paused for that collection until you turn it on again.
How fast does a product move after it sells out?
On Starter and above, within a few minutes. On the Free plan, at the next daily sort. You can also press Sort now at any time.
My storefront shows a different order. Why?
Some themes set their own sort order on collection pages. The storefront check finds this and tells you. Set the default sort of the product grid in your theme editor to Featured, then save.
What happens to my collections if I uninstall?
They stay in their last sorted order. To go back to the order you had before StockFirst, use Restore original order in Settings before you uninstall.
